Most people are aware about the software TOR that aims to protect your privacy and has long been a favorite by hackers,Activists, etc. A little while back the company who brought you TOR has made another project called Tails or The Amnesic Incognito Live System. This project is a Debian based linux live system that leaves no trace on your computer and allows you to use the internet anonymously and circumvent censorship . A few features included in this system are…
– All outgoing connections are forced to go through TOR (This makes it incredibly hard for someone to pinpoint your location).
– Does not store information on your hard drive instead it is stored in the RAM and deleted when you exit.
-Packed will some cryptographic tools, USB drive is encrypted with LUKS. All your internet traffic is encrypted with HTTPS, your IM conversations are encrypted with OTR, and your emails and documents are encrypted with OpenPGP.
Although TAILS is preconfigured to use TOR online there is some steps to take to avoid being tracked.
1. ALWAYS leave your TOR window at the default size. This will stop websites from determining your monitor size and tracing it back to your computer.
2.ALWAYS disable scripts such as Java,JavaScript and flash and any other active content.(You can simply do this by clicking the “No script” icon in the top left side of the browser. JavaScript is a powerful web browser language that websites use to track you make sure you disable it!.
3.Never use Google. Google has been known to track users’ browsing as well as search data to try to increase its ad revenue.
